After a shipwreck, an intelligent robot named Roz becomes stranded on an uninhabited island
To survive in the harsh environment, Roz befriends the island’s animals and cares for an orphaned baby goose. Lupita Nyong’o is joined by writer and director Chris Sanders to talk about notable accomplishments and their time producing “The Wild Robot” together. According to writer Peter Brown, the inspiration for “The Wild Robot” came from a sketch he did of a robot in a tree.

During the first act, I laughed so hard at the brilliant, natural comedic moments from Peter Brown’s book of the same name. By the second act, I was in awe of where this story arc would take the audience, and by the third act, I felt like I had salt water in my eyes. ;), Ving Rhames, Mark Hamill, Pedro Pascal, and so many others do an amazing job of breathing life into this script, helped by the lush island atmosphere and beautiful creatures that live there.

Director Chris Sanders’ obsession with animation from “Lilo and Stitch” to “The Croods” paid off in “The Wild Robot.” This film shows us that sometimes you have to become more than you were programmed to be in order to survive.
