American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Narrative
The series follows Morgan, a single mother of three children, who, thanks to her exceptional mind, is able to help solve a crime when she rearranges evidence during her shift as a cleaner at the police department.. Despite her very high IQ, excellent memory, and extensive knowledge of the arcane, Morgan makes a series of basic mistakes in the law that no one has ever made. Watch a TV law show and be warned not to do it. In the first episode, for example, she retrieves a document from a locked safe in the suspect’s – victim’s – law office – evidence that was illegally obtained – which could never be admissible in court.

It also could not be used to obtain other evidence – violating the legal principle of "fruit of the poisonous tree". In episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at a crime scene, and in #3, she removes all the documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of custody and further destroying everything she removed. HPI remake (2021). Okay, the series starts off great, and Kaitlin Olson gives a solid performance.
Episode 3 is really derailing, and I hope episode 4 really improves
The series is very much like the TBS series Monk, where a borderline Asperger’s guy helps the police solve crimes. Again, the series has been strong so far, but it’s not as vivid or fun to watch as Monk, but it’s a fun watch. In this episode, she gets overly self-righteous and sabotages a case. She takes evidence from the police station, she tampers with the evidence, and she corrupts it.
Tactics that will overturn a case
The consequences? Zero…. It’s distracting how annoying she is in this episode. She shows no evidence of self-awareness or remorse for her actions.
